At Get It Straight… we go all out at Halloween. We love to decorate, dress up, and and have a good time. Last year we were "Pirates of the Caribbean". You will have to visit our office the week of Halloween to see what we are doing this year.
In the meantime, we thought we would give moms some early ideas on what sweets they can make for kids wearing braces so they don't feel left out. This video was put out by the Food Network and the American Association of Orthodontics. For those who like to get an early jump on things, we are posting early… See what kids of all ages can eat without destroying their orthodontic appliances before and after Halloween.

There are many different types of toothbrushes to choose from and each brush has a different type of bristle! When buying a toothbrush, everyone here at Get-It Straight thinks you should know the bristles are your number one priority… then consider color, shape, and all the whistles and bells manufacturers use to lure you to buy their product.
There are generally three different types of bristles; hard, medium, and soft. We always recommend our patients, especially children and seniors, use a soft bristled toothbrush. This is true for a hand held as well as an electric toothbrush. Why? Over a period of time, the wrong bristles can cause your gums to recede. If the bristles are too hard, they can wear away the enamel on your teeth and irritate the gums so they become red and sore. Over a period of time, the wrong bristle can even cause your gums to recede.
Did you know there are nine different types of Dentists? At Get It Straight we specialize in orthodontics or the dental art of tooth and jaw alignment and bite problems such as overbites, underbites, and crossbites.
In order to become an orthodontist, just like your dentist, an orthodontist goes to dental school. After dental school however, Dr. Terry Giangrec, Dr. Janis Preston, and Dr. Ron Cortese continued their dental education by attending an orthodontic graduate program, for a few more years, to become experts in orthodontic treatment using many different types of braces.Read more on Why Choose an Orthodontist In Rochester NY…
