“Matthew’s teeth needed a lot of work when we first brought him to you about 10 years ago.  You had a one-payment-for-as-long-as-it takes policy and you sure lived up to your end of the bargain.  Within a couple of years Matthew’s teeth looked great, but on a follow up visit you noticed that his lower jaw had grown beyond what was normal, presenting both a cosmetic and functional problem.  The braces went back on followed by surgery to shorten his mandible.

The surgery did not accomplish all that was hoped and the oral surgeon wanted to correct it by operating on the upper jaw.  I was not happy and went to you for a second opinion.  You felt you could correct the problem without the painful second surgery and you did.  I felt you would have been justified to charge us for the additional work, but you were true to your word and we weren’t charged a cent.

“So often in today’s world we feel taken advantage of or we are led down a path thinking that we will get one thing only to see that something other than what is promised is all that is there.  Today, I entered the Pittsford office only to pick up my tickets for the Red Wings night and to clarify the date of my next appointment.  What I encountered was very different… a very good different that is.

Because of a scheduling difficulty for my next appointment, I was asked if I could stay for an appointment today and was taken in right away.  What a convenience that was.  Not only was that a great surprise but at the end of the appointment, I was told that because Dr. G was not able to close all the spaces in my mouth as originally thought possible, he was refunding part of my payment.  I think my jaw hit the floor.

After I left and truly processed it, I really couldn’t believe it.  Things like this just don’t seem to happen in today’s day and age.  With 4 children all needing some sort of orthodontic care, I already felt guilty receiving treatment for myself.  This helped alleviate some of the guilt.  I wanted to personally thank you for the gesture and let you know that it was very much appreciated.  Thanks again so much, and we all look forward to seeing the gang this Wednesday night at the big game!”      -Heather Smeatin (July 2009)
